Last Year!!

What a difference a year makes!! I know this saying is constantly said by a lot of people. I've been saying and thinking it a lot. This time last year I not only just celebrated my 30th birthday but we were starting to share our news of not just one baby but TWO!! My family of course knew right away but it was my husband's side to know. My husband and I believe we shared the news Mother's Day weekend. We were all excited. I had made it out of the first trimester with no problems and both kids were looking good. We were just counting the weeks until we got to know what their sexes were. Since I was getting an ultra sound everytime I was in the office we loved tried to guess. We of course didn't get to know until almost 19 weeks. It was at this ultra sound that we got a change of news. It was announced at this appointment that Baby A was a girl and Baby B was a boy. Our excitement was overshadowed though with the news that Baby B was showing signs that his growth was slowing down. It was too early for this to happen. My doctor was calm however and wasn't that worry at this appointment. She did send me to an ultra specialist just to give them a baseline. She just wanted them to take a look but didn't think I would need to go to them again. 3 weeks later he still hadn't grown as much as his sister so a second visit to the specialist was in order. By 24 weeks, my little boy was measuring almost 3 weeks behind his sister. The only thing we thought it was at this point was I wasn't producing enough blood for the three of us. I had been on restricted activity and bed rest already so my only option was hospital bed rest and constant monitoring. When I got to the hospital I was told that my little boy wasn't growing because his cord for some reason was not getting enough blood flow. To make a long story short, at 29 weeks, his cord decided it didn't want even the blood it was getting so the doctors had to pull both kids out.
Alyssa Jade was born at 2lbs 7ozs.
Andrew Roy was born at 1lb 14ozs Both were small but came out fighting. Alyssa spent almost 3 months in the unit and Andrew spent 3 months. He came home Christmas Day!! It was the best gift we got this year. They both are.

For MOMs by MOMs - Intro

Its funny how life goes sometimes. One day I was searching different blogs and stumbled upon a post that had a story I was interested in. I flagged this blog and followed this person's writing for a while. Saw this individual was pregnant with twins and just kept on reading. About 2 or 3 months into this women's pregnancy my husband and I decided we wanted to start our family. I had no idea that I would become a MOM!!

I'm going to try to link up with other MOMs to share my story You Just Wait Til You Have Kids

We found out at 8 weeks that we were blessed beyond our original thoughts with the discover of twins. We were excited and nervous all at once. At about 17 weeks we found out it was a girl and a boy but we also discovered a problem that we weren't prepared for. Up to this point my pregnancy was going along with no issues. The twins started off measuring at the same size at my first ultra sound just a little smaller. My first ultra sound I thought I was 8 weeks but they measured 6 almost 7. At 17 weeks, the Baby A (girl) was measuring on track but Baby B (boy) was starting to lack. At this time the difference wasn't much just noted in my file and was told I would be watched carefully. 7 weeks later and many ultra sounds later the difference was about 2 to 3 weeks different. This landed me in the hospital where I was watched even closer with an ultra sound everyday and heartbeat checks twice a day. I was told they were watching to make sure Baby B didn't go into distressed and that his cord was not rejecting my blood. At 29 weeks, Baby B decided he didn't want my blood anymore so out they came. Alyssa was born 2lbs and 7ozs and Andrew was born 1lb and 14 ozs. Alyssa spent almost 3 months in the NICU and Andrew spent exactly 3 months. In fact he came home on Christmas Day. My husband and I couldn't ask for a better Christmas gift. We thank God everyday for our little miracles and we can't wait to see what He has planned for them.
